WebAPP, Web - Automated Perl Portal
I became involved with WebAPP while looking for a CMS for a new domain I was putting together for Perl development.
While surfing some forums I came across a post about WebAPP and with all the problems with php CMS's ,which was the rage back then(and still today). I decidied to try WebAPP because it fit in with some other Perl scripts I wanted to use.
Once installed, it was exactly what I was looking for, a lil rough but funtional, and easily styled, for however I wanted to set it. I was hooked, I grabbed anything I could find WebAPP related(I have gigs of files) and started hacking.
That's all it took, when I finally did start to speak out at the site, and get involved, I changed my screen name to my2cents from lightning.
WebAPP and web-app.org was just starting to bloom way back then and from my personal experience was always a pleasant place to visit with helpful support/community.
I had alot more free time at that time and I wanted a way to give back to WebAPP, And since I was always playing with html, seemed themes would be a good way.
Themes led to Beta testing, which led to dev core team, while still doing theme dev as well. I became most involved with 9.9.9, Jos and I had been working on things together for quite some time by then. It just seemed time to put that stuff together to lead up to what we wanted 1.0 to be. I know Jos was at it alot more than I, and would not even want to guess at how many hours I've spent with WebAPP files.I know we both took some time off after that, 9.9.9 was and still is one of the very cleanest WebAPP versions released.
